  1. SCSI target numbers hardware

  3. Q:  What's the SCSI target number of the CPU?
  4.  
  5. A:  The CPU (actually, the CPU's host adapter) is SCSI Target 7, Logical Unit Number (LUN) 7.  This, effectively, cannot be changed by the customer.
  6.  
  7. The host adapter must be the initiator; it will not respond as a target.  It is unlikely this will change.  Likewise, multi-initiator SCSI has not been tested, and we do not expect to support it in the foreseeable future.

  9. We do support disconnect-reselect of SCSI devices.

We autoconfigure the SCSI bus, by scanning the devices out there.  The lowest numbered disk target becomes sd0, next is sd1, etc.  The target number of a device is set by its device driver.  Unless otherwise specified, booting from the SCSI bus will be done from the bootable device with the lowest target number.
